La Pine Frontier Days
When the La Pine Frontier Days Association was formed in 1999, the event called “Frontier Days” was already a well-loved event in our area. It was lovingly presented each year by a loyal and stout group of volunteers...with not much in the way of funding. By the time the “Association” was formed some sponsorships had come on board and“ The Bulletin” stepped up to be a major contributor by providing the Program Guide at no cost. Advertising was sold in the Program Guide to pay event costs, but money for the day to day costs such as copies & ink was scarce. The membership fee to the Association went directly to help offset those costs. The Volunteer Planners and Board Members also gave profusely of their own printers, paper, tape, etc., as well as the plain old muscle to present an event that was growing each year. Now, with contributions from many more Sponsors and Volunteers, our “La Pine Frontier Days” has become one of the “Premier” 4th of July events in the State!
It’s no secret we no longer rely on membership fees to offset our daily costs; but we do rely heavily on the input and volunteer base that the membership provides. We are still a mostly volunteer organization; our Volunteer Board Members are also Association members. We need Association members to help keep our event fresh and moving in a positive direction. We need Association members to help out in the many, many aspects that go into presenting such a large event. We need Association members to show that ALL members of our community (not just those able to sponsor) support our efforts to present an event that is a huge economic boost for all of La Pine.
This year we will be looking for new Board Members, new Event Coordinators, Committee Members, etc. We hope that we can include you in our list of committed supporters with your completed application to become a member of the La Pine Frontier Days Association!
